Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Today & Make a World of Difference

Whether you are a new or “seasoned” volunteer, let us know how you would like to participate by submitting the Volunteer Questionnaire form. Volunteer requests and information will be shared with both CHIA and CLA leaders for their use in making appointments to volunteer roles. For further questions, email Volunteer@CaliforniaHIA.org.

Participating on one of the CHIA Committees & Task Forces is great way to volunteer. Most committees conduct their meetings via WebEx and/or telephone conference calls based on an agreed upon date/time. Selected committees may also have a face-to-face organizational meeting.

Meet the current committee members here and refer to the CHIA Committee Deliverables to learn more about each committee’s purpose, composition, roles and responsibilities, ongoing charges, and more.

CHIA continually seeks members to fill volunteer roles. Member involvement in volunteer roles is essential in building a strong association, one that provides optimal educational, networking, resources, and leadership opportunities for members. Where do you start? If you have never volunteered for your professional association, a good place to start is to volunteer for your Component Local Association (CLA). Most of CHIA’s leaders first volunteered within their CLA where they learned more about CHIA and CLA activities, events, leadership roles and volunteer opportunities.

As a professional association consisting of subject matter experts from a variety of different roles in health care, we have the expertise to:

  • Embrace the fundamental changes affecting the health information management profession;
  • Drive CHIA to be the resource that influences legislation and public policy, champions standards and facilitates best practices for information governance;
  • Grow HIM member knowledge and value; and
  • Engage customers, stakeholders, partners, professional peers, patients and the next generation of HIM professionals to market the relevance and value of the HIM profession.

For CHIA to maintain the EDGE, we rely on our valued members (you) who make this happen for our Association. Without you, CHIA would not be the premier association of health information management professionals in California.

Get involved in CHIA leadership today Volunteering in your professional organization is a great way to hone your leadership skills, increase your professional contacts, and to give back to your profession while sharing your skills and working toward a common goal.

Thank you for helping CHIA make a difference!
