PART 2 Challenging Cases in ICD-10-PCS *

PART 2: Challenging Cases in ICD-10-PCS
Recorded Live: Thursday, March 11, 2021

Continuing Education
CEUs: 3  |  HIIM Domain: Data Structure, Content, and Information Governance.

Program Description
A three-hour live interactive session focused on helping coding professionals continue their journey of learning PCS by stressing decision making. Learn the facts to consider as you make a root operation determination to achieve the correct answer quickly and accurately. This program has the answers to commonly asked PCS coding questions.

The presentation will include a discussion of frequently requested topics about root operations and approaches, while using a variety of cases to reinforce the material. Cardiovascular and musculoskeletal examples and cases will be used, as we talk about root operations. This program uses real scenarios and explains the details that coding professionals need to know as they code.

Attendees will be able to:

  • Differentiate between the various approaches used in PCS coding
  • Choose the root operation based on the objective of the procedure, the root operation groups and the definitions
  • Identify procedure details that support the assignment of the root operations covered in this program
  • Analyze operative report documentation to correctly assign all ICD-10-PCS characters for codes associated with cases similar to those included in the program.

All required materials will be provided by the presenter.
