Are the modules available to anyone?
All modules are available to anyone.
How many modules will there be?
Fourteen modules to be introduced that will generally follow these competencies:
Introduction (history, responsibilities, language) Regulation releases including: patients, patients’ family, minors, deceased patients, child abuse, patient’s legal representative, my Personal Health Record (PHR) Courts, attorneys and subpoenas Worker’s Compensation and elder abuse Payors and providers Coroner and Public Health Business Associate, Government Agencies, SSI Inmates and law enforcement Mental health, drug and alcohol, HIV, Lanterman Petris Short Act, inmates, law enforcement
When will additional modules be posted?
Summer of 2006.
How long does it take to complete this first Introduction module?
This module, including the 15-question exam can be completed within one hour.
Do I need to take the modules in order as listed on the CHIA Online Campus catalog?
Whereas you are strongly encouraged to take them in the order as posted to the CHIA Online Campus catalog, it is not required.
Do I have to be a member of the California Health Information Association to take this module?
No, you do not need to be a CHIA member to take this or any of the CHIA Online Campus modules.
I live in a state different than California, can I take this module?
Yes, you can. Whereas some of the information contained in the module is California-specific, much of the content falls under federal regulation and HIPAA.
If I am interrupted, will I be able to return and complete the module?
Yes. You can log in at any time and 'continue'.
Can I download and print out the module materials?
Yes.
Do I have to download files onto my computer to obtain module information?
No, all information is self-contained within each online education module section.
How do I pay for module(s)?
You may sign up online and pay by credit card.
