HIM Professionals…..Looking for a great way to earn CEUs? Did you know that by making a presentation at a CHIA seminar or the CHIA Convention & Exhibit you can earn several CEUs? Well, you can! For every 15 minutes of presentation, you earn one CEU. If you participate in an hour-long panel discussion you can also earn one CEU. Below is the 2011 ‘Call for Speaker Proposals.’ Yes, it does seem early and too far in advance, but the 2011 Convention Committee will be meeting soon and they will be planning next year’s program. Please consider sharing your experiences with our members (and earn some CEUs at the same time).

Planning ahead - 2011 CHIA Convention & Exhibit

If you are looking for a great way to share what you have learned, give back to the profession, add something to your resume or just earn CEUs – how about making a presentation at a CHIA seminar or the CHIA convention? The California Health Information Association (CHIA) is now accepting applications for program speakers for our 2011 Convention & Exhibit educational program.

The annual CHIA Convention & Exhibit will be held Sunday, June 12, 2011 through Wednesday June 15, 2011 at the Town & Country Resort & Convention Center in San Diego, California.

Topics should focus on issues of interest to health information management professionals, health information policy-makers and health information technology professionals. The program will include multiple general sessions as well as a variety of educational tracks and tutorials. For every 15 minutes of presentation, you earn one CEU, and if you participate in an hour-long panel discussion you can also earn one CEU. Please consider sharing your experiences with the rest of our members (and earn some CEUs at the same time).

Speaker applications are due by October 1, 2010. So soon? Yes! Our Convention Committee starts meeting in August to create the best educational programs on the market for HIM professionals.

All proposals submitted are reviewed and selected by the CHIA 2011 Convention Committee. Program topics should be timely, relevant and innovative. We are looking for speakers to provide the audience with greater understanding of current issues, new systems and applications, with program content that offers practical approaches and solutions while stimulating new ideas.

Additional information required includes the main learning objectives of the presentation, title and brief outline of the presentation, and your curriculum vitae or resume. Speaker handouts are required and speakers must submit a master of their handout materials to CHIA at least six weeks before the convention.
