CHIA has over one hundred dedicated volunteers participating on committees, task forces, and other volunteer groups. Whether you are interested in volunteering on one of these committees, on the CHIA Board of Directors, as a Delegate to AHIMA, or in another capacity, just let us know by visiting the Volunteer Opportunities page and completing the Volunteer Questionaire. CHIA’s Committees and Task Forces change from year to year, based on the needs of CHIA. Below are CHIA’s current committees.

| Convention Committee Plans the topics, speakers and events for the CHIA Convention & Exhibit. Members also assist on-site with convention activities. |

| Editorial Advisory Board Advisory and peer review body concerned with the content of the CHIA Journal. Reviews and approves articles for publishing in the CHIA Journal. Members assist in identifying topics and authors for journal articles and make other recommendations related to the CHIA Journal. |

| Emerging Issues Committee Advise and provide CHIA with HIM expertise in the area of emerging issues for HIM including environmental scanning, reviewing, and vetting trends. |

| Privacy and Security Committee Advises the CHIA Board and recommends resources for CHIA members on issues related to electronic heath records (EHRs), health information exchange (HIE) implementation and privacy & security of health information. Advances CHIA’s effective collaboration with external public and private organizations that have a mutual interest in these topics. |

| Professional Networking & Communications Committee Focuses on HIM career information, professional networking, and use of social media within CHIA. May participate in health fairs, and encourages CLAs to participate in career fairs. |

| Publications Committee Evaluates, recommends and coordinates the development of resources which includes the CHIA’s E-books. The Publications Committee is responsible for ensuring that existing educational resources are updated and current with health information management practice, laws, and regulations.
