Who we are
is a leading private college system focused on technology-oriented programs of study. It operates over 90 ITT Technical Institutes in more then 30 states which predominantly provide career-focused, degree programs to approximately 48,000 students. Headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, it has been actively involved in the higher education community in the United States since 1969. There are 13 campuses in California, 7 of which offer the Health Information Technology program.
What we offer Most ITT Technical Institute programs of study blend traditional academic content with applied learning concepts, with a significant portion devoted to practical study in a lab environment. Advisory committees, comprised of representatives of local businesses and employers, help each ITT Technical Institute periodically assess and update curricula, equipment and laboratory design.
The ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis, IN offers several programs online, including an online MBA program. With ITT Tech's online education, a quality education is now available when and where it is convenient for the student.
Possibilities Students attend classes year-round with convenient breaks provided throughout the year. Classes are typically available in the morning, afternoon and evening, depending on student enrollment. This class schedule offers students flexibility to pursue part-time employment opportunities.
Health Information Technology
Associate of Science Degree
Objectives The program in Health Information Technology teaches how to collect, analyze, monitor, maintain and report health data in accordance with established data quality principles, legal and information security standards and professional best practice guidelines. These functions encompass, among other duties, processing requests for the release of personal health information, the coding of clinical information, processing and using health data for clinical quality management, billing/reimbursement and compliance with patient privacy regulations.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of this program may pursue careers as health information technicians in a variety of health care settings. Entry-level positions may include medical records technician, health information technician, patient information coordinator and reimbursement specialist.
Class Size Classes generally range in size from 15 to 30 students. Depending on the course subject matter, certain classes may contain a greater or lesser number of students.
