Call for Volunteers
Volunteerism is the key to success

Volunteer Questionnaire Form

Volunteers are CHIA’s most valuable asset – volunteers contribute to the success of CHIA and our members. Participating on committees and task forces are one important way that volunteers contribute to CHIA's success.

Get involved in CHIA leadership. Volunteering in your professional association is a great way to develop and hone your leadership skills, increase your professional contacts, and to give back to your profession. But where do you start? If you have never volunteered for your professional association, a good place to start is to volunteer for your Component Local Association (CLA). Most of CHIA’s leaders first volunteered for their CLA where they learned more about CHIA and CLA policy, procedure, leadership roles and volunteer opportunities.

Increasing active involvement of members is essential in building a strong Association that provides optimal educational, networking, resources, and leadership opportunities for all members. CHIA continually seeks members to fill volunteer roles to help in this endeavor.

The CHIA and CLA leaders recognize the importance of increasing active member involvement in building a strong association that provides optimal educational, networking, resources and leadership opportunities for our members. Those who step forward to volunteer instantly become ambassadors for our organization and help to ensure that our national, state and local associations continue on a successful path. Opportunities for growth of our organization can only be realized through our members volunteering and helping to recruit new members.

About six months prior to the start of each new fiscal year that begins each July, the CHIA President-elect will be seeking members to chair or serve as members on CHIA's various committees and task forces.

To understand and meet the diverse needs of members, volunteers are essential. Volunteers participate on committees and task forces and help to provide our members and others with high quality educational programs, resources, networking, and advocacy opportunities. Don’t let limited background or experience stop you from volunteering. Start with your CLA and enhance your experience – whatever the level. Our success as a professional network depends on you. Ask what you can do for your CLA and CHIA – Volunteer today!

Most committees conduct their tasks via phone conferences and e-mail. Selected committees may also have one face-to-face organizational meeting (Coding and Data Quality, Convention, Seminars, Nominating and Legislation). In exchange for the time and talent you invest as a CHIA volunteer, you will receive the benefits of strengthening CHIA and your professional network, enhancing your leadership skills and developing new friendships, just to name a few.

The committees and task forces for which CHIA is seeking volunteers are:

• Academic

• Audio/Webinar
• Candidates
• Coding and Data Quality
• Coding Roundtables
• Community Education
• Continuum of Care
• Convention
• Editorial Advisory Board

Please consider how you’d like to share your talents as a CHIA volunteer and e-mail Volunteer@CaliforniaHIA.org along with your completed Volunteer Questionnaire Form.

Please help us make a difference in our Association. Whether you are a new CHIA volunteer or a "seasoned" volunteer, let us know in what areas you can help.  The Volunteer Questionnaire Form includes a brief description of each committee's role. Volunteer requests and information will be shared with both CHIA and CLA leaders for their use in making appointments to volunteer roles.
