Requires completion of coding certification program, Associate’s in HIT/HIM. CCS, CPC or RHIT certification, 3 years current inpatient coding in acute care facility, knowledge of ICD-9-CM coding, MS-DRG and APC reimbursement methodologies, federal, state and payer-specific regulations/policies.
