The Academic Committee is to establish and maintain communication between CHIA and existing and potential Health Information Administration/Health Technician (HIA/HIT) programs in California.

Additionally, to identify potential sites for new Health Information Management and Health Information Technology programs (both traditional and progression) in California and pursue the initial steps to development of such programs; and to foster CHIA involvement with existing Health Information education programs in California.

In addition to fostering the Component Local Association involvement with the Health Information programs, the Committee submits articles focusing on education for the CHIA Journal.

This Committee is to share information related to HIM curriculum models, entry level competencies, clinical experience, and Essentials in direct contacts and through CHIA Journal articles and to encourage the HIM practitioner involvement in clinical education through direct contact, CHIA Journal articles, and sponsorship of a ’’Clinical Supervisor Appreciation’’ event at the CHIA State Convention & Exhibit.
